Arrival Guide - Student


Please take a moment to review the following required items in advance of your program. In order to make your experience as smooth as possible, please be sure to take time to complete all items below prior to your arrival at New Student Orientation. Directions and Parking Permit
Remember to view our interactive campus map and download your Parking Permit online before you arrive.
All campus guests must display an official Parking Permit on their dashboard while parking on campus during New Student Orientation.
Special Accommodations
If you or any member of your family has a physical disability and will need accommodations during our program, please contact our office at least one week prior to your program. If you have any special considerations or questions regarding the overnight housing accommodations during our two-day first year programs, please contact Conference & Visitors Services at 301-314-0325 at least one week prior to your program.

Faith/Spirituality Interest Form
Interested in learning more about the faith communities and chaplaincies on campus? Click here and fill out the University's Faith/Spirituality Interest Form to receive information. Initial participation is voluntary, and you can update your information at any time.

First Year Students —>

Dietary Restrictions
If you are requesting a Kosher meal during your program, please place an order through Maryland Hillel online or 301-422-6200 (ex 202). Kosher meals are coordinated and ordered by Maryland Hillel directly and not our office. Vegetarian and some vegan options are available in the dining halls and food court. Non-severe gluten allergies can be accommodated in the dining halls and food court. Certain severe allergies and food concerns cannot be accommodated and alternate preparations should be made.

Health & Immunization Form
At UMD it is required that all students have an Immunization Record on file with the University Health Center. All students must have health insurance and MUST bring their Health Insurance Card to campus to receive services at the Health Center throughout the year. It is also a requirement for ALL students to have health insurance. For more information and to access the Health Insurance Waiver, visit this link.

Packing List
Review our packing list for our two-day programs so you have all necessary items for your program, including any test scores, transcripts, and bedding for your overnight stay. For those attending a one-day program, please view this packing list.

Math Placement Exam
Please review instructions for the required Math Placement Exam which must be taken prior to your program. All first year students are required to complete the Math Placement Exam.

Foreign Language Placement Test
Please review instructions for the required Foreign Language Placement Test which must be taken prior to your program. If you are planning to take, or continue with, a foreign language, you must take this required placement exam prior to your program.

TENTS Adventure Trips
Register online today for our TENTS Adventure Trips! The Maryland Adventure Program seeks to offer and facilitate wilderness expeditions for new transfer students at the University of Maryland. The TENTS program exists for the purpose of assisting students as they transition into the college experience. Each TENTS trip will focus on promoting personal growth and social skill development as well as basic outdoor skills such as camping, paddling, hiking, and biking.
