You will use your directory ID to register for orientation and to access various university resources.
Set up your Directory ID and password.
In addition, all students have access to Terpmail, which is the university's email system that is run through Google mail.
Set up your Terpmail account.
Design your Fall course request
Review the courses you’d like to take in the fall semester based on your intended major and other university requirements.
Guidelines, including schedule planning forms, may be found at Courses & Guidelines.
You’ll enter your course selection into the FC Enrollment Form.
If you need assistance, please schedule an appointment with an Advisor at 301-405-7762 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Submit your FC Enrollment form
Access the Online FC Enrollment Form (Available March 1).
After submitting the FC Enrollment Form, you will receive two emails: one email confirms submission of the enrollment form; another email confirms submission of payment. These emails are NOT an acknowledgement that you have been enrolled in your course selections. If you did not receive both emails, email email@example.com.
After we’ve received the FC Enrollment Form, you must complete the Math Placement Test (MPT). Your FC Enrollment Form will not be reviewed until the results of the MPT have posted to your student record. Course seats are not held. Course registration is based on a first-come, first-served basis. Certain courses, particularly math and science fill and close early. Do not delay in taking the MPT.
After the MPT results post, Advisors review your course selections based on major and Gen Ed requirements (if there are any issues, an advisor will contact you via email), ensure you’ve selected a UNIV100 section, confirm that you’ve selected an orientation session, ensure that the enrollment-deposit fee payment has successfully posted, and, finally, process the form.
You’ll receive a final email confirming that your FC Enrollment Form has been processed. This email contains instructions on how to access and view your fall course schedule.
Complete the Math Placement Test
Link will be available in mid-March.
All incoming UMD freshmen are required to take the Math Placement Test (MPT). The MPT provides a measure of a student’s math skills. The results are used to ensure that students are eligible to enroll in the math requirement associated with their intended major. The FC Enrollment Form will not be processed until MPT results post to the student record. Results are distributed and reviewed at orientation.
About the Online MPT
Register for Orientation
All incoming first-year students attend a summer orientation that provides an overview of the upcoming fall semester. You’ll receive a copy of your Math Placement Test (MPT) results. Advisors will discuss important academic rules and regulations that you’ll need to know when the fall semester begins. You’ll review guidelines on how to change your fall schedule and have an opportunity to add/drop/waitlist courses (pending seat availability). In addition, you’ll receive your UMD photo ID and meet other new students. Family members are welcome to attend.
Students in Freshmen Connection may choose from a 2-day (overnight), 1-day or online orientation option. Spaces in each orientation session are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
