We are excited to welcome you to the Maryland family!
At New Student Orientation, you will meet with an academic advisor, connect with other new Terps, and register for classes. Our program is designed to prepare you for the academic rigor at UMD, introduce you to Maryland traditions, and acquaint you with campus resources.

The ID photo submission form will open on November 15th. Check your to-do list for more information!
Need to change your major?
Incoming students who wish to change their intended major should email their request to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at ApplyMaryland@umd.edu using the subject line "Change of Major Request". Please note that your New Student Orientation date is dependent upon your major and may need to be changed once your change of major is processed. Once you have received a confirmation that your major has been updated, please call our office to double check that your New Student Orientation date works for you new major.
Orientation gives you an opportunity to learn about the huge campus and meet other students in your college or year. I love that I was able to learn campus traditions and it really made me excited for school in the fall.
Tip #1: Register for Orientation As Soon As Possible
Our office runs all the orientation programs for newly admitted, degree-seeking undergraduate students. All of our orientation programs are major specific, and space in each session is available on a first reserve basis and class. You register for classes during your orientation session.

Tip #2: Review Your Directory Information
Email is the primary mode of communication at the University of Maryland, College Park. As you prepare for orientation make sure your email, phone number, and address are up to date. Please ensure that your email is not a previous college, high school, or parent email.
Tip #3: Complete Your To-Do List
We know you have a ton of questions and might be wondering what come's next? Make sure you review your designated To-Do List and complete ALL of the tasks. You can give our office a call anytime or email us at if you have questions about tasks on your list.
