Academic Advising

Our major programs are designed to be completed in 4 years. Our teacher education programs have selective admissions/gateway requirements that must be met to proceed into the professional portion of the program. During the mandatory advising meeting, students receive updates on their progress toward meeting the admissions and gateway requirements.
Gateway requirements can be found on each major's page.
Encourage your EDUC student to:
- Use their College of Education and campus resources
- Reach out to their Academic Advisor proactively with any advising / academic planning questions they may have!
- Connect with the EDUC Advising Team

Upon completion of the Teacher Education degree, students are eligible for Maryland state teacher licensure.
Our teacher education programs have reciprocity with most states via National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement
Students who plan to teach outside of the state of Maryland following graduation must research their desired state’s Department of Education Website to learn of the details of the licensure process in their desired state
