Paying for New Student Orientation
How To Pay
Students will be billed for their New Student Orientation program after they attend. The Office of Student Orientation and Transition bills for programming three times over the summer, once at the end of June, once at the end of July and on the first day of the fall semester.
The orientation office bills twice during the winter once in December and once on the first day of the Spring semester. The charge will appear on the student’s account, similar to tuition and other fees, and can be accessed by visiting BillPay website.
Why Is There a Fee for New Student Orientation?
The budget of the Office of Student Orientation and Transition is entirely self-support, which means no state or institutional funding is received. This fee is solely to subsidize the cost of all orientation and transition programming, office operations, professional staff and undergraduate student staff.
What is the cancellation/no-show policy?
New Student Orientation
Students who register for a New Student Orientation program and do not show up, will be charged a $20 no-show fee. To avoid a no show fee, students must call our office to cancel their New Student Orientation program at least 24 hours in advance of the program date. The Office of Student Orientation and Transition does not process refunds for participants after they attend the New Student or Terp Family Orientation program. As is explained above, New Student Orientation fees are used as the sole funding for the Office's functioning and all meals, housing, and other program accommodations are booked in advance of each program date.
Terp Family Orientation Program & Platinum Tours
If you no longer wish to attend the Terp Family Orientation Program, please notify us at least 24 hours from the program date, via phone or email. If family members or supporters do not cancel before that time period we will charge the full amount and no refunds will be processed. We would be happy to reschedule you for a different date, should you no show a program.
*Please Note: If your Terp Family Orientation Program is on Monday, contact us via email by Sunday and as long as we have record of this we will honor the request and remove any charges associated with the Terp Family Orientation Program.

New Student Orientation Fee Waiver
The Office of Student Orientation and Transition is dedicated to providing incoming students with resources to support in their transition to the University.
